

{"id":7299,"date":"2022-05-03T12:31:36","date_gmt":"2022-05-03T12:31:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.museodegrandas.es\/the-museum\/02-the-rectory-house\/02-09-wine-cellar\/"},"modified":"2022-05-03T12:31:36","modified_gmt":"2022-05-03T12:31:36","slug":"02-09-wine-cellar","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.museodegrandas.es\/en\/the-museum\/02-the-rectory-house\/02-09-wine-cellar\/","title":{"rendered":"02.09.- Wine cellar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The wine cellars were preferably located under the granary or, as in this case, on the ground floor of the house, in a semi-subterranean space with a trodden earth floor that guaranteed the cool environment necessary for the preservation of the food that was stored in them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.museodegrandas.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/bodega3.jpg\"><img class=\"wp-image-1100 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.museodegrandas.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/bodega3.jpg\" alt=\"bodega3\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the Museum&#8217;s wine cellar there is an important place for a llagar with a beam and <em>fuso<\/em> (spindle) for pressing grapes, which few houses had and was often owned by several neighbours<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.museodegrandas.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/bodega4.jpg\"><img class=\"wp-image-1101 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.museodegrandas.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/bodega4.jpg\" alt=\"bodega4\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The work related to vine growing and winemaking is associated with specific equipment that can be seen in the room: machines for sulphuring and sulphating the vines, funnels, <em>canadas<\/em> (jugs containing 4.56 litres), <em>cachos<\/em> (bowls), leather wineskins with wooden nozzles, vats for storing the wine, etc. The large chestnut wood tub was used both for treading the grapes and for salting the meat.<\/p>\n<p>On the ceiling of the wine cellar hang several <em>galleiros<\/em> or <em>toucieiras<\/em> in which the sausages and meat were kept out of the reach of rodents and a <em>panceira<\/em> to preserve the loaves of bread.<\/p>\n<p><!--:--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The wine cellars were preferably located under the granary or, as in this case, on the ground floor of the house, in a semi-subterranean space with a trodden earth floor that guaranteed the cool environment necessary for the preservation of the food that was stored in them.
